Swaddling

Well the time has come to stop swaddling Brendan. Everywhere we go Joe or I have to swaddle him because most people don't know how to. We can't leave him with babysitters that don't know how to swaddle because he will not sleep more than a few minutes un-swaddled (unless he is held the whole time). Sad but true, I started 2 nights ago. It took 30 minutes to go to sleep. Last night it took 12 minutes. Nap time has not been so kind. He cried for 1 1/2 hours this morning for his nap and then he got up ate lunch, played, and then cried for 20 minutes before passing out from exhaustion. I am going in there and checking on him, but it is really sad.
I just realized if we want him to be away from us ever, then this was a necessary step. Hopefully it will get better every nap and bedtime if we stay strong!

I wouldn't worry about making Brendan sleep without being swaddled. Have you considered buying a swaddling blanket? They are pretty self explanitory. Also, keep in mind that he is still a little guy and likes feeling close and snuggled. Bo does the same thing, waking up very frequently if he gets his arms out. I am going to try to sew him a swaddling blanket in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know how it works.

I wouldn't give up on swaddling yet. There are blankets that are self explanitory. Maybe one of those would work well for a sitter. We have one that has velcro and is from Target. Hope you guys get a night out and some rest!
